The Story
Kalyanaswami came to Ramana Maharshi at Tiruvannamalai in his youth and remained with the Master for the rest of his life, serving him with a devotion that knew no limit. He was one of the inner circle of disciples who lived beside the sage through the decades of his teaching.
He recorded the Master's conversations and activities, and his notes and writings preserve the living presence of Ramana — his silence, his humour, his teaching of self-enquiry. His records are among the most valued accounts of the sage's later years.
After the Master's passing in 1950, Kalyanaswami continued to live at the ashram, serving the tradition and the devotees who came to Arunachala. He died in 1958, remembered as one of the most devoted of the Master's children — a life wholly given to the guru.
